Greetings from the Huron School District
Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. I am honored to be the Huron School District Superintendent. Whether you are a student, parent, staff, or community member, I look forward to collaborating with you to pursue our Mission Statement:
“Life-long learners will be inspired and developed through effective teaching in a safe and caring environment”. We will accomplish our mission through the vision of “Respect – Pride – Excellence for All”.
Our facilities are modern and learner centered thanks to the support from our community. We focus on the achievement of every child and strive to help them reach their full potential upon graduation and be ready for college, career, or the military. The Huron School District is growing and boasts a diverse population that looks much like the rest of America. We are proud of our diversity and believe it enhances the educational experiences of students and staff.
My wife Nancy and I grew up in South Dakota. We are blessed with four children who are proud to be Huron Tigers. My previous administrative experience includes the Assistant Director of Career & Technical Education (CTE) and the Superintendent of Schools in Oakes, North Dakota. I hold four college degrees, including a Doctorate of Education from the University of South Dakota.
As a school superintendent, I believe in the following core beliefs.
- Students come first.
- Students deserve to reach their full potential.
- People are genuine and valuable and should be respected.
- Family engagement is paramount to district success.
- School should be fun.
- A growth mindset thrives on challenge, and intelligence can be developed.
- Student agency enhances ownership of learning.
- Change is constant.
- The cycle of continuous improvement will never cease.
