No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Title I

NCLB requires states to adopt challenging academic content and student achievement standards that apply to all schools and all children in the state, and mandates Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) reports for all schools.

Title I provides supplemental educational services and family involvement opportunities that promote academic success in schools with a higher percentage of low income families.

The Migrant Education Program, in partnership with schools and families, provides supplemental educational services and family involvement opportunities that promote academic success.  The Migrant Education Program's goal is to make certain that all migrant students succeed academically and graduate with a high school diploma or G.E.D. which prepares them to become productive and responsible members of society.

Title III funds allow the Huron School District to proivde professional development for teachers designed to meet the needs of English Language Learners in the classroom.

• Title X - McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act Program

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Program provides support to students who have been identified as not having a fixed nighttime residence.  Support for these families is provided through the TItle I Part A grant.
